SAE Formula Lincoln
Every summer, engineering students from all over the world come to Lincoln, Nebraska to race Formula cars. This isn't just a race though. These students spent the entire school year designing the car, sourcing the parts, building the car, testing the car, and tweaking the car and it all comes down to this day. Rain or shine or 105 degrees - the race is on.
The race is developed and managed by SAE International (formerly known as the Society of Automotive Engineers) and has been going on since 1981. It is an engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students that provides the participants with the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying learned classroom theories in a challenging competition. The design goal for the teams is to develop and construct a single-seat racer for the non-professional weekend autocross racer with the best overall package of design, construction, performance, and cost.
